Drupal Global Training Day at Thiruvananthapuram
International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS), an autonomous institution under Government of Kerala, India mandated with propagation, promotion and development of Free and Open Source Software has organised the Drupal Global Training Day (GTD) in Trivandrum on September 29, 2018 from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Zyxware Technologies provided the technical partnership for the GTD. The event set the momentum to form the Drupal Community in Kerala.
Dr. Rajeev R. R., Program Head, ICFOSS welcomed the participants. Introduction to Drupal, Drupal, Community and the GTD was shared by Mr. Thomas P. Thomas, CEO, Zyxware Technologies. The event was inaugurated by Mr. M. Shivasankar I. A. S., secretary, E&IT Department, Government of Kerala. He stressed on the role played by Government of Kerala in enabling the technology ecosystem in India. He urged the community to attract investments into Kerala for the expansion of the ecosystem.
Fuelling the Digital Transformation with Drupal, a presentation on the power of Drupal was shared by Mr. Vimal Joseph, Senior Manager, Technology, Zyxware Technologies. The session was followed by Q & A round. A case study on multi-site platform for a government agency was taken by Mr. Mathew T. Abraham, Project Manager, Zyxware Technologies.
After the presentations, it was time to have some real handson experience in Drupal. The Drupal workshop was led by Mr. Krishna, Technical Project Manager and Mr. Ajish Pulikkottil, Technical Consultant. The session started with Introdcution to Drupal, How to install the same and a practical session on how to build a simple Drupal 8 application. Each participants were hand holded by a team of Drupal developers.
About 60 participants with representation from student community from Engineering colleges, software professionals and from government offices attended the GTD. At the concluding session 'Open House', the participants shared their feedback. To most of them, it was an opportunity to have a hands on experience with Drupal and explore ways to learn in detail. Certification of Participation were issued to all attendees.
