The second alpha release of Ubuntu 12.10 code named "Quantal Quetzal" Alpha 2 is released. Quantal alpha 2 includes the 3.5.0-2.2 Ubuntu kernel which was based on the 3.5-rc4 upstream Linux kernel. Other notable changes with the Quantal alpha 2 kernel include a rework of the brcmsmac regulatory support, an extensive config review for the highbank kernel flavor, and misc bug fixes. The Quantal alpha 2 kernel continues to include the transitioning of the i386 generic PAE flavor to become the generic flavor offering, collapsing of the virtual flavor back into the generic flavor.
About Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a complete desktop Linux operating system, freely available with both community and professional support. The Ubuntu community is built on the ideas enshrined in the Ubuntu Manifesto: that software should be available free of charge, that software tools should be usable by people in their local language and despite any disabilities, and that people should have the freedom to customise and alter their software in whatever way they see fit. "Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others". The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.
