Compaq Presario C739TU is a model of laptop in the product line of HP-Compaq. The specifications are as given. It comes with an Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor T2330 (1.6 GHz), 512 MB PC2-5300 DDR2, 160 GB SATA, 8X Double Layer DVD +R/+RW Writer, 15.4" WideScreen, Wireless LAN, Integrated WebCam & Mic. This machine comes pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. If ever you plan to downgrade to Windows XP, you need to install drivers for various hardware. The list of hardware and drivers are given below. Please note that this laptop is designed to work with Windows Vista.

Compaq Presario V3713AU is another laptop from HP-Compaq. This is an AMD based machine with Dual Core technology. The features include 14.1” WideScreen, 160GB Hard Disk, 512MB DDR2 RAM, Built-In Webcam, DVDRW & Double Layer Burner, 802.11 b/g Wireless Lan, Bluetooth, Card Reader, ExpressCard / 54 PC Card, Expansion Port 3, 56K Modem, 10/100 Lan Port etc. This is a blank machine with a FreeDOS. If you are planning to install Windows, you would require various types of drivers to run this laptop. They are given here. A word to remind: This laptop is designed for Windows Vista.

You will have to install an operating system (Windows, Linux etc) to use the laptop. Incase you are planning to install Windows XP, you might have issues with compatible drivers.

Neither Zyxware nor HP does not give you any guarantee that these driver would work properly as they are not tested for Windows XP. Here are the drivers. Drivers for Windows xp are not available from company's website. We have provided all the links here. Neither Zyxware nor HP gives you any guarantee that these drivers will work perfectly in your laptop for Windows XP, as these laptops are designed to work with Windows Vista.

We had never had to configure an Airtel GPRS internet connection on a Laptop with Ubuntu before as we never had a customer who had one such connection. We however got an opportunity last day when we installed ubuntu on a compaq presario F733AU laptop. Setting up internet access on Ubuntu is easy in itself and setting up GPRS could not have been any easier. The customer had a Nokia 9300 communicator with a USB datacable.
