We are happy to announce the release of yet another Drupal module. This time it is the "Comment Subscribe" module that will allow anonymous as well as registered users on a drupal site to subscribe to replies to their comments. The module will send notifications to the subscribed users about the replies to their comments or replies to their comment's children.

In a bid to promote the GNU/Linux User Group Trivandrum we have decided to offer free hosting plans for members of the group. The only eligibility criteria that we are looking forward to is a minimum level of involvement in the group activities.

In a high profile function at the State Capital on 16th January 2008, the INSIGHT Project - ICT centre for differently abled in the state of Kerala was inaugurated. The project is promoted by the Kerala State IT mission (KSITM). SPACE (Society for Promotion of Alternative Computing and Employment) who masterminded the switch to the School GNU/Linux for the IT @ School project is the key player behind this project as well.
We have volunteered to take up the maintenance of a very useful Drupal module - Search404. As of today we are the official maintainers of this very useful Drupal module. We know that this is going to be a challenge for us, being a young company and with a young team. But we do feel that it is our responsibility to give back to the Drupal community at least some part of what it has given us.
Year 2008 is round the corner and year 2007 is almost over. This last year was a very good year for Zyxware Technologies. We have to give our special thanks to our Cusomers and our Service Providers for the wonderful cooperation we have received during 2007. Our customers have been very cooperative and understanding and they also have helped a lot in spreading the word about Zyxware. Our operations as a company benefited a lot from the set of wonderful service providers that we have.
In a bid to throttle organized piracy and in retaliation to drop in revenues (or rather, failure in achieving targeted sales) from software sales in Kerala, Microsoft Corporation launched aggressive anti-piracy raids in computer assembling stores in Trivandrum, Kollam and Thrissur districts in Kerala. This we think is a right time for those of you who are worried about using pirated software to shell out large chunks of money to buy licensed software or better SWITCH TO UBUNTU :).
Next time when you insert your USB drive to a computer and if you happen to see a new "New Folder" not created by you, don't open it. It could be a virus infection. The worm creates a new file with the name New Folder.exe and hides the file extension so that you will not recognize that it was not a file folder and will accidentally double click it and the worm gets executed.
The Indian Linux User Group Trivandrum chapter(ilug-tvm) had been lying dormant for quite some time. However there has been a burst of activity within the group during the last two months. A few Linux enthusiasts including some of our own staff has decided that enough is enough and have successfully conducted ilug meetings for the last two months. The response has been very positive from the Linux Community. Zyxware Technologies as a company has decided to support this movement in whatever way we can, to keep this movement going.
The release of the health monitoring system was well received by the media. It was covered in almost all the regional newspapers including Malayala Manorama, Mathrubhoomi, Deshabhimani, and some of the regional television channels like DD1 Malayalam, JaiHind, Kairali People, Manorama TV, Amruta TV. It was also taken well by the online media including Hindu, PTI etc. Although we didn't get hold of all the copies of the press releases published in the media we have collected some of the published content and are sharing it here.
We are happy to announce that our open source application, The Health Monitoring System was dedicated to the nation by Hon'ble Health Minister of Kerala, Smt. P K Sreemathi Teacher by accepting the first copy of the application from Zyxware's CEO Mr. Anoop John on 5th October, 2007. The function was held at the minister's office.
A new software developed by Zyxware Technologies all about to revolutionize the way information is collected and processed in tracking diseases like Chikungunya, Dengue, Malaria. The software, is being dedicated to the nation as Free Software under the GNU General Public License (GPL) on 5th October 2007. The first copy of the software will be handed over to the Hon'ble Minister for Health Smt. P. K. Sreemathi Teacher in a function to be held at the minister's office.
We are happy to extend phone-based support for all Ubuntu users in Kerala. We have been providing at-site support for Ubuntu Users in Trivandrum for the last one year and we would like to offer this service to all existing Ubuntu users and prospective Ubuntu users in Kerala.
Zyxware Technologies was started with a strong vision to promote Linux and Open Technologies across India and make people aware of its advantages over proprietary softwares. As the first step towards it, we started our operations in Trivandrum. We have been installing and supporting Ubuntu on all computers sold by our company. We are happy to extend this support for Ubuntu to all its existing users and to those who would like to try out Ubuntu in and across the the city of Trivandrum.
The project aims to open up the freelancing market for the Student Community and thereby give tremendous exposure and technologically empower the students. Ultimately this aims to create a vibrant technical forum or even a company owned by students among the students that can nurture innovation and entrepreneurship among the students and promote open ideas, technologies and products.
